Artist Statement

My work is an investigation into systems of mythology and the phenomenon of mythologizing war. This system of reverence for violent conflict is an ancient theme in human civilization and each manifestation of it is both surprising and tragic, especially as the tools of warfare become progressively more advanced. Social conditioning to accept conflict as a necessary component of nationalism and national cultural existence continues to be an educational priority of the modern nation-state, especially those which aspire to become dominant imperial systems.
